Hello from 15,116 Feet!

Wow- about the only word to describe where I went this past weekend. Our group of Americans over here went to a city in the southwest of our country. We visited a mountain known as Jade Dragon Snowy Mountain that ranks as one of the 50 highest mountains in the world. We didn't go all the way to the top as we only climbed about 400 feet, but we did end up at 4680 meters, which is over 15,000 feet! When we reached that point we started singing The Eye of The Tiger from the movie Rocky. I was quite short of breath up there, but the scenery was amazing and I also got to see for the first time in my life an actual glacier, only feet away from me! The trip was hands down the best one of the year (apart from Winter vacation and conference). We enjoyed seeing the old town in this city and learning about the minority people groups that occupy this area. I got to try on one of the battle helmets of the ancient soldiers- see picture below. The architecture was amazing and there were streams that ran alongside all of the streets. Even Athens, GA would be jealous of the incredible night life there! And after all that, we had to spend the night next to the airport because our flight delay made us miss our other flight home...bu hao. At least we're back safely now and the trip to the top proved all the more that Dad surely exists among His creations!
