Even though I'm crankin out a monthly update of what's goin on in East Asia, I wanted to have a place to put up my day-to-day adventures, embarrassments, wow-moments, cultural tips, etc. for those that want to know...or are just bored and this offers a way to live vicariously through me. Remember, No Min. Details on here!

Yi, Er, San....This is One, Two, Three

I'm learning my characters and pin yin, but it's very difficult. This first week of class has proven to be quite a challenge. The order of learning is a little frustrating because in my mind, order might include categorizing words together like foods, colors, numbers, animals, places, etc. But here they do it according to similarity in characters, so now I've learned sky, man, horse, white, three, above, eye, big, tree, noon, and a few others at the same time. Really random to me, so we'll have to just deal I guess. I think the chickens here may be rabid too because whenever we walk past them after class to go hang out with friends on campus, they attack us. Pecks aren't pleasant! In addition, most of the dogs here look the same, or at least of a variation of the others...kinda tells you what goes on around here, but I think they're all pretty much mutts. Uh, this is a pretty random post (to go along with the random learning theme), but I wanted to tell you the names of all the places we like to eat because all the names are made up :) So for our meals we go to the following and the names are mostly suggestive of characteristics of the place: The Colorful Seat, White Rabbit (they used to have pictures of them in the window), Toomer's (the Auburn kids named it that...I'll think up a UGA place soon!), 28th Floor, Mongol's, The Basement, The Colorful Seat 2, and White Table Cloth. These are all I remember, but fun nonetheless. On a different note, I've been very encouraged to hear from friends and family via emails. I really enjoy hearing what's going on back at home and school and in everyone's lives. It gives me something to look forward to as well. I'm getting geared up for the game this weekend. We have lots to do until then, so until then...
